The One Where We Got Here Safely

Well, we got here in one piece.  The flight was not bad; no screaming children, only mild turbulence, and the guy on the end of our aisle was very nice.  Our luggage arrived in perfect shape and we didn’t get ripped off by our taxi driver.  We, thankfully, had been told approximately how much it should cost to get from the airport to our hostel.  So when the first guy said he could take us there for over twice as much as I knew it should cost, I gave him the, ‘yeah-right-dude!-I-know-what’s-up’ fake out!  And it totally worked!  He went to find a different foreigner and another taxi driver came over and said they could take us for way less.  Victory one!  Of course, we really barely actually know what’s up, plus we had zero idea of where we were going so he totally could’ve taken us to a dark alley, but he took us directly to our place… whew!  I’m glad we knew to confirm the price first before leaving the airport, since we have like zero taxi experience, even at home.

I swear the rain here sounds different.  As we walked the last block in the pouring rain, I was very glad for my wide brimmed hat!  The view from our window with the sound of the rain made me feel like I was in a movie.  We got showers, then slept good for a few hours.  The bed is very firm, but really not too bad.

Next on Chilling in China…Andre & Ginger try to find some food that won’t make them sick.
